A meeting of the European Movement International’s Political Committee on Jobs, Competitiveness and Sustainable Growth took place on Monday, 14th of September 2015 at the European Parliament in Brussels. Discussing the subject of ‘Jobs and Growth through the Digital Economic Model’, the event was organised and chaired by EMI’s Vice-President and Co-Chair of the Political Committee Eva Paunova, and attended by the newly-elected EMI general secretary Petros Fassoulas.
Ms Paunova, who is also a co-founder of EP’s Digital Agenda Intergroup said ‘It is important to understand and implement the new digital economic model throughout Europe, as it levels the playing field for everyone – start-ups and big corporations, established member-states and smaller countries trying to make their mark. It will also facilitate e-commerce on the European and international levels, stimulating job creation for the future’.
The meeting also welcomed a special presentation by Aura Salla, Cabinet member and Communications Advisor to EC vice-president Jyrki Katainen. Ms Salla outlined the Commission’s priorities for its Digital Single Market Strategy, as well as opportunities for digital entrepreneurs presented by the Juncker investment plan.
European Movement International (EMI) is the biggest umbrella body for NGOs in Europe.
